Introductory Similarity: Gold Notebook and Women in Love

The opening of "The Golden Notebook" reminded me distinctly of the beginning of "Women in Love," namely the set up of two women sitting around at home talking about relationships. The raised question of interchangeability despite great differences between Molly and Anne, could have been a commentary on Gudrun and Ursula. While we in class talked at length about the differences between them, reading through WiL, it could sometimes be difficult to differentiate their points of view. Additionally, whereas Ursula and Gudrun were extremely interested in finding men of their own and working towards that "ultimate" goal of marriage. Which contrast with Molly and Anne being significantly older than their counterparts, and the knowledge that at least one of them went through a divorce.

Whether this will develop more or not remains to be seen but it seemed worth keeping in mind going forward.
