Order from Chaos

On page 54 we get a description of the first few pages of the black notebook. The image that this book does not begin with a title but with chaotic scribbles interested me. The idea of order emerging from chaos and purpose originating from the same is an interesting idea to me. We talked in class about how fracturing features prominently in the text. I get the feeling that this is a nearly straight statement that all this breaking up is intended to allow for one to extract an ordered understanding from it. The passage about the beginning of the black notebook seems to back this up. The various scribbles share and lead into the eventual emergence of the book's purpose: part ledger part reflection upon the business of art.

This is a fairly primitive thought but I hope to develop it more as I read.
