I am interested in the idea posed on pages 60-61of The Golden Notebook -- that artists are animals, justified in whatever they do/ make. But artists seek political/ other social issues for public validation. And because art is so traditionally anti- discipline, it needs some kind of order to go against.
Art is so often fighting something (a person, institution, idea) -- it makes sense that the artist sought that thing in the first place, found/ established the fear for themselves in the first place.
Anyway, I'm thinking about this, even if I don't totally know what the thoughts are yet --
