A few words on the title

I thought about our discussion at the end of class about what the title might mean or indicate about the novel, so I decided to look up the word “in” in a dictionary and see if I could find any other possible uses that might be relevant.  The list of uses as prepositions struck me the most.
-Used to indicate inclusion within space, a place, or limits
-Used to indicate inclusion within something abstract or immaterial
-Used to indicate inclusion within or occurrence during a period or limit of time
-Used to indicate limitation or qualification, as of situation, condition, relation, manner, action, etc.
            -Used to indicate means
-Used to indicate motion or direction from outside to a point within
-Used to indication transition from one state to another
-Used to indicate object or purpose.
I especially liked the third and fourth uses.  The women in the text were existing “during” love.  You could say love was going on, but it wasn’t necessarily happening for them…or at least not exactly in the way they intended it.  Also, use as a limitation, at least in Gudrun’s case, she felt limited by love. Just some thoughts.
